That’s one way of doing it. Over the last few years, the worlds of mixed martial arts and professional wrestling have been coming together. With the likes of Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey coming to WWE and having a great level of success, the doors seem to be open to various other names to come into the professional wrestling world. Now another top level mixed martial artist might be coming into the fold, albeit not in the traditional way.
According to MMAFighting.com, current reigning UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier is in line for a tryout as part of the WWE commentary team. Cormier says that he was scheduled to have a tryout but had to postpone it due to a recently announced title defense at UFC 230 on November 3. After the fight is over, Cormier claims to still be in line for the tryout. Cormier currently does commentary for UFC and is a noted wrestling fan.
He’s already got WWE experience…kind of.
Opinion: I mean, why not? Cormier has said that he won’t be fighting much longer and he certainly has the mainstream sports appeal and experience to make a bit of an impact in WWE. I can’t imagine him wrestling a match, but it’s not completely out of the question down the line. He’s not bad on commentary in UFC and maybe he can make the same thing work in WWE.
Do you think Cormier will work in WWE? Would he ever work a match? Let us know in the comments below.
