Nice to meet you. NXT is widely considered to be one of the best things about WWE and has been for a very long time now. The show has a very different feeling than Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, offering a unique experience by comparison. That makes the show a little more fun, but it is still the developmental system for WWE and where fresh main roster talent comes from. That was the case again this week.

There have been some very successful crossovers from mixed martial arts to professional wrestling. A lot of the fighters wind up being naturals in wrestling and it isn’t that surprising. The sports have some similarities and the fighters already have some basic skills coming into the wrestling world. This week saw two more former fighters making the jump up from NXT to Monday Night Raw.

During this week’s Monday Night Raw, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke made their debuts in a backstage segment with Shayna Baszler. The two did not say anything but later in the night, Shafir made her Raw Underground debut in a winning effort. After her win, Nia Jax jumped both Duke and Shafir before running from Baszler. Shafir and Duke have appeared on NXT before, often helping Baszler as part of the Horsewomen, though they have not been present in several months.

You might need to get to know them. Check out Shafir and Duke in the ring:

Opinion: Is there a more perfect place for the two of them to debut? Raw Underground is built around fighting and the two of them were professional fighters, so I don’t think it can get much better. Neither Shafir nor Duke were exactly impressive in their NXT careers so maybe this could be a step in the right direction. I’m not sure how long term it would be, but it makes sense to have them there, if nothing else as Baszler’s lackeys.

What did you think of the debut? Should the two stay on the main roster? Let us know in the comments below.
