Multiple problems. There are all kinds of reasons why a wrestler might miss a show and some of them can be quite serious. You might see someone gone because of health issues or unhappiness with what they are doing, but occasionally it will be a mixture of multiple things. We might be seeing a situation where it is three different issues causing trouble for someone at the same time.

Earlier this week, Drew McIntyre missed SmackDown due to an unspecified health issue. However, according to Wade Keller on a Pro Wrestling Torch VIP update, McIntyre is also unhappy with his current creative direction and the money being offered on his next deal. McIntyre’s issues are said to be a mixture of these problems, with McIntyre and WWE said to be nowhere near terms on a new deal. In addition, McIntyre is said to have been beaten up from his WrestleMania 39 match against Sheamus and Gunther.

Opinion: You see this sort of thing happen every now and then and hopefully the two sides can come together on terms of a new deal. McIntyre has been one of the most important names in WWE, especially during the Coronavirus pandemic. WWE is not going to easily find a replacement for someone like McIntyre and at some point they need to go somewhat out of their way to make him happy.
