That’s a way to get people watching. The WWE Brand Split has changed the way the company is run again and that is a good thing in a lot of ways. It almost splits the company in two with Monday Night Raw and SmackDown being made into separate rosters. The is the kind of thing that can make for some interesting moments and we got to see one of those on Friday night.
One of the major appeals of the Brand Split is having the wrestlers kept apart for most of the year. It makes for some great ways to set up some major matches because you don’t get to see them very often. WWE makes a big deal out of having the roster going at each other on special occasions, with Survivor Series being one of them. We got a previous of it this week.
During this week’s SmackDown, Monday Night Raw’s Drew McIntyre made a surprise appearance to confront Universal Champion Roman Reigns. McIntyre was then cut off by Jey Uso, setting up a match between the two of them for later in the night, with McIntyre winning. After the match, McIntyre stared Reigns down again, with Reigns saying he would see McIntyre at Survivor Series if McIntyre could win the WWE Championship. McIntyre is challenging for the title next week on Monday Night Raw.
It was a big surprise. Check out how the night went for McIntyre:
Opinion: This show did a lot of things but the most important of them all was making me want to see McIntyre vs. Reigns. That is one of the few big matches that WWE has going for it right now and I could go for seeing it on a major stage. Hopefully that means WrestleMania, because something like that deserves such a big treatment. WWE planted seeds tonight and I want to see where it goes, which is exactly the point.
