He’ll be around. There have been a lot of WWE stars throughout the company’s history but only a handful of them have reached the very top level. Those stars who become the face of the company are few and far between and are among the all time greatest names WWE has ever seen. Now the current face of the company has made an important announcement about his future with the company.
WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns recently appeared on the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast and confirmed that he signed a contract extension with the company. The new deal does also include a reduced schedule for Reigns, who will now only appear on occasional live events and television tapings. Reigns said that he had been working a more full time schedule for ten years and wanted to spend more time as a father to his five children. Reigns is scheduled to defend his titles against Drew McIntyre at Clash At The Castle in Cardiff, Wales on September 3.
Opinion: This is one of those things where you can’t blame Reigns for taking a bit of a break if it is offered to him. He has been one of the top stars in WWE for years now and it makes sense for him to take a bit of a step back while still being the top name in WWE. Reigns is still around often enough that it doesn’t feel like he is missing most of the time so there is at least something of a balance.
What do you think of Reigns? How long will he be the champion? Let us know in the comments below.
