Shake it up a little. The Coronavirus pandemic is back in force and now it is coming after the wrestling industry again. While no major changes have taken place so far, it is clear that wrestling promotions and wrestlers themselves are being affected by what is going on. That could mean a lot of changes in the near future, and now we have already seen several of them.
According to PWInsider.com, there were several changes made to this weekend’s WWE live events in New York City, New York and Tampa, Florida. All four of the headlining matches between the two shows were canceled, including:
Tampa
Roman Reigns/Usos vs. New Day/Drew McIntyre
Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks
New York
Big E. vs. Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins
Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks
Instead, Edge was rushed to New York to face Owens in a steel cage match while McIntyre and Sheamus teamed up to face the Usos. None of the wrestlers missing have been announced as testing positive for the Coronavirus and it is not clear when they will be back on television or in the ring.
Those could have been some huge matches. Check out some of the wrestlers in action:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that you knew could happen and the question now is how many times it can happen on a bigger show. Would I be that shocking to see it do this during the Royal Rumble or even WrestleMania? It seems like a really major threat and hopefully everyone can stay healthy throughout the entire situation. I don’t think there is any way to guarantee there are no cases, but now it is about finding a way to deal with everything. Hopefully WWE and other companies can figure it out, but it won’t be easy.
What do these changes mean for WWE? How will its future shows go? Let us know in the comments below.
