That’s a bit of a surprise. Two years ago, Shane McMahon made a shocking return to the WWE after several years away. Since then, McMahon has become the Commissioner of SmackDown Live and an occasional wrestler. His matches bring out some nostalgia in fans who remember him as the athletic Boy Wonder of the Attitude Era. However, it might not be the same feeling among everyone.

According to Brad Shepard on the Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, McMahon is described as “high maintenance” backstage. Shepard was recently told that upon hearing of McMahon being in a major match at the upcoming WrestleMania 35, a lot of the wrestlers “rolled their eyes” because they know that McMahon will be needing a lot of attention before the match. Here is the quote, with transcription courtesy of Ringsidenews.com:

“I was told that he is certainly going to get some sort of a headline fight at WrestleMania and in fact, they referred to Shane as ‘high maintenance’ and ‘everytime he gets involved we all roll our eyes.’ Take that for what it’s worth but apparently, Shane McMahon is high maintenance.”

Ok so this still works.

Shane McMahon returns to WWE: Raw, February 22, 2016

Opinion: Given McMahon’s immediate family, I can’t say this is the biggest surprise in the world. I was very surprised and happy when McMahon came back to WWE a few years ago, but he’s overstayed his welcome just a bit. It feels like he’s involved in some major story every single year and that becomes a little annoying. Most of the time it feels like he’s just there because of his name and not because he belongs on the card. Unfortunately that isn’t likely to change anytime soon.
