This could change things a bit. Last night at “Tables Ladders and Chairs 2016”, Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton won the Smackdown Tag Team Titles by defeating Rhyno and Heath Slater. After the match, Luke Harper carried the titles to the back. According to WrestlingInc.com, this could mean that the titles will be defended under the Freebird Rule.

The Freebird Rule is an old tactic in wrestling where a three man group can rotate in various combinations to defend the titles instead of the same two members over and over. At the moment, the New Day uses the same concept to defend the Raw Tag Team Titles. This could also change if the team gains more members over the coming months.

I like the idea and I can’t say I’m surprised. Harper has always been one of the fall guys for the team and it’s been clear that he doesn’t trust Orton (as he likely shouldn’t). This also allows someone other than Wyatt or Orton to take the fall when the titles change hands, which is the best case scenario all around.

Do you like the idea of the Wyatts using the Freebird Rule? Is two teams using it at the same times a bit too much? Let us know in the comments below.
