I’d say that counts. There were very few stories in 2020 as well received as that of Roman Reigns’ return to WWE and subsequent heel turn. Reigns has become the biggest villain in WWE in a very long time and there is nothing to indicate that he is going to be moving down the card at any time in the future. That means finding top opponents for him could be difficult, but WWE might have done some long term planning.

One of the reasons that Reigns has been so successful in his new heel run is the addition of Paul Heyman as his advocate. While Heyman has not had much to say in the role, his mere presence made fans realize that Reigns was on a different level this time around. Heyman has a pretty impressive history with his clients, but one of them might be coming back to go after Reigns.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a match between Brock Lesnar and Reigns is on the table, but it will not be taking place at this year’s WrestleMania 37. Instead, Lesnar vs. Reigns would be more likely to take place at a future WrestleMania with Heyman as the centerpiece of the angle. Lesnar and Reigns have fought at WrestleMania before, with Lesnar defeating Reigns at WrestleMania 34 and Seth Rollins defeating both after inserting himself into their match at WrestleMania 31.

Opinion: As much sense as something like this makes, I’m not exactly needing to see Reigns vs. Lesnar for a third time. It would be far from the worst idea due to the story built in, but it is a match that has been done to death and not something that has me overly excited for a rematch. If nothing else, waiting a bit longer will help, as Lesnar may be in his mid 40s but it’s not like it would be a stretch for him to stay dominant.
