Looks like he’s next. NXT is in a rather unique place in the wrestling world as they serve as both the official WWE developmental territory as well as a national television show. That is not the kind of thing that you get to see happen very often and yet somehow they manage to make it work. Unfortunately it means that they have the disadvantage of losing some of their stars to Monday Night Raw and SmackDown and that might be happening again.

The NXT Title is one of the best passes towards the main roster. While it might not always mean success, becoming the NXT Champion is one of the biggest signs that WWE thinks very highly of someone. A who’s who of NXT talent has held the title and several of them have gone on to become stars on the WWE main roster. Now we might know who is next up on that list.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is grooming Karrion Kross to be moved up to the main roster. Kross has only been back in NXT for a little over a month following his return from shoulder surgery but he is now on the fast track for a call up. This comes less than a year after Kross won the NXT Title in August 2020 but was forced to vacate it due to injuring his shoulder in the match. There is no specific date or time frame on when Kross could be called up. It is also unclear if Scarlett will come with him.

Opinion: This is hardly the biggest surprise as Kross has all of the star power that you could ask for in an NXT wrestler being promoted to the main roster. You can see everything you need in him and it could mean a lot for WWE to see him moved up. Kross has not even been down in NXT long but he seemed to be ready for the main roster the second he set foot in NXT, making this a little less than shocking.
