Well at least he showed up. Celebrities have been a thing in wrestling for a long time and always will be. It makes sense too, as having either a local or even national celebrity show up on your program is going to make a difference. Some of them are a lot more popular than others but when you find one willing to work for awhile, it can be a big deal. However, that may not be the case this time with WWE.

One of the big selling points of WrestleMania 36 was Rob Gronkowski as the host. While Gronkowki is known for being high energy and able to draw attention to himself, it might not be everyone’s cup of tea in wrestling. His time at WrestleMania basically included talking a lot and then winning the 24/7 Title. That wasn’t much to work from, and now it might be the high point of his WWE career.

According to ESPN.com, Gronkowski has come out of retirement and will be joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2020-2021 NFL season. There is no word on what this will mean for his current WWE contract. Gronkowski signed with WWE in March and made an appearance on SmackDown in addition to his time at WrestleMania. He is still the 24/7 Champion though he has not appeared since winning the title.

Gronkowski already has a history. Check out some of his time in WWE:

Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised at this one as Gronkowski is leaving. He’s one of the best tight ends in the history of football and at 30 years old likely has a lot left in him. It’s not like he was in some major story as he won the same title that ring announcer Mike Rome has won before. He didn’t make much of an impression on me and him not being around isn’t going to change much. Maybe he’ll be back someday, but it doesn’t seem likely to make much of a difference.

What did you think of Gronkowski? Will he be back? Let us know in the comments below.
