The partnership continues to pay off. We’re just under a month away from the biggest non-WWE wrestling show of the year as New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) presents “Wrestle Kingdom 11” on January 4. According to 411mania.com, the Ring of Honor World Title will be on the line as new champion Kyle O’Reilly defends against Adam Cole, who lost the title on December 2. This is the second straight year that the title will be defended at Wrestle Kingdom after Jay Lethal defended against Michael Elgin last year.

O’Reilly and Cole have been feuding on and off for years now with O’Reilly finally winning the title at this year’s “Final Battle 2016”. Ring of Honor and NJPW have had a working relationship for several years now with NJPW stars working Ring of Honor shows. Several angles and stories take place in both companies at the same time.

Good for Ring of Honor. I’m not a big fan of NJPW taking over their TV show at times but it’s a big deal to be on this card. “Wrestle Kingdom 11” is the biggest non-WWE show in the world and it makes Ring of Honor look like a bigger deal to be associated with them. With TNA basically a TV show instead of a wrestling company at this point, Ring of Honor can take its place as the second biggest American wrestling company without too much effort and this is a big part of that.
