What A Relief: Former WCW Star Talks Heart Attack During Match, Quintuple Bypass Surgery

That’s a serious issue. There are all kinds of health problems a wrestler might have to face during their career and some of them can be quite the major problem. These are the things that can take a wrestler out of action for a very long time, which ultimately winds up being the best thing possible. Now another wrestler has had a major problem and it is about as serious as you can get.

Former WCW star Lodi suffered a heart attack during a match on June 17. Lodi discussed the incident with Queen City News (Charlotte, North Carolina), which saw him starting to feel off during a match. He then drove to the hospital himself, where he was told that two major arteries were 100% blocked and a third, called the Widowmaker, as it being blocked leads to death, was 90% blocked. Lodi would undergo quintuple bypass surgery but says that he plans to continue his wrestling career after recovery.

Opinion: That’s one of those stories that sounds like a plot in a movie, as the drama involved almost sounds fake. What matters most is that Lodi is in much better shape now and hopefully continues to get better going forward. To have that many arteries blocked and make it through is impressive and thank goodness he was smart enough to go to the hospital when he did.
