That’s some special praise. Love him or hate him, there is no one in the history of wrestling as powerful or influential as Vince McMahon. An endorsement from McMahon can be a complete game changer for a wrestler as McMahon taking a liking to them can change everything about their career. Now a former WWE star has told a story of McMahon giving him some rare praise.

During an appearance on the Cheap Heat podcast, former WWE wrestler Sam Houston told a story about his appearance at the 1988 Survivor Series. Houston took part in a Survivor Series match where he was eliminated about ten minutes in, with the match running just shy of eighteen minutes. According to Houston, McMahon took him aside after the match and said Houston saved the match as he was the only wrestler selling anything. Houston says that it goes back to the wrestlers not wanting to sell anyone’s offense and put each other over. Houston wrestled for WWE from 1987-1991.

Opinion: It was a very different time in WWE and for McMahon, but it would not surprise me to see him do something like this. McMahon can get impressed by performances, especially if he does not like what is going on in the rest of the match. Houston might not be the most remembered stars in WWE history but he certainly was a talented wrestler who seemed to have earned the boss’ approval.
