Problem solved. Despite what WWE seems to believe, titles mean a lot in wrestling. Seeing someone carrying around a big gold belt instantly gives them credibility and that’s the kind of thing that can make someone a lot more interesting in a hurry. Losing titles means a lot too, which is what happened to the Hardys earlier this week when the SmackDown Tag Team Titles had to be vacated. Now we know what’s going to be done.
According to WWE.com, new SmackDown Tag Team Champions will be crowned this week on SmackDown Live, with Shane McMahon handling the issue. There is no word on who the champions will be, though SmackDown Live has a limited division at the moment. Current active tag teams include the B Team, the Colons, Heavy Machinery and Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev, though more teams could be brought over to deal with the situation.
It was quite the sad moment. Check out the Hardys giving up the titles:
Opinion: In theory it would make more sense to do this at Money In The Bank and there is a good chance that the titles will actually be decided there. Either way, it is a good sign that the issue will be solved so soon, though I’m not sure who exactly is going to get them. The division is painfully thin at the moment, but with so many people around with nothing do, throwing together some teams would be a good idea.
