So much for that. Earlier this week it was officially announced that Goldberg would be coming out of retirement to work the June 7 WWE event in Saudi Arabia. That’s quite the name to get for the show, but it also brought up an immediate question: what was Goldberg going to do? A story has been making the rounds about a specific scenario but it turns out that it doesn’t quite hold up.

According to Ringsidenews.com, a rumor circulating about Goldberg defeating Kofi Kingston to become the WWE Champion on the show is completely false. The rumor was put out by a social media site that spreads fake stories for the sake of getting people talking. At the moment, there is no word on what Goldberg will be doing at the show and it isn’t even guaranteed that he will be having a match.

He’s already back. Check out WWE’s announcement that Goldberg is returning:

Opinion: That’s quite the relief. The Saudi Arabia show is rarely a place where anything major actually happens, but at least we don’t seem to be setting up a title change that would be for nothing more than a short term change. Goldberg winning in a one off match is fine but having him out there every single week as champion would be a bad idea, especially with Kingston still settling into his title reign.

What do you want to see Goldberg do at the show? Who should take the title from Kingston? Let us know in the comments below.
