Suddenly this is more important. Earlier this week, Stomping Grounds, Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live all saw rather low attendance. The visuals from these events are not good for WWE as there is little way to spin the problem: fans are not willing to pay for tickets to the shows. WWE isn’t done with their big shows this summer either, so how are the ticket sales going?

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, ticket sales for July’s Extreme Rules event are stronger than Stomping Grounds but the event is not looking to be sold out. The event is looking to sell about 8,000 tickets rather than the expected 13,000. On the other hand, Summerslam is nearly sold out and likely will be so by the time the event takes place. The Scotiabank Arena where Summerslam will be held holds about 20,000 people. For the sake of comparison, Stomping Grounds had about 6,000 fans in attendance.

This is the show a lot of people missed. Check out part of the main event of Stomping Grounds:

Opinion: Can you blame the fans for not coming? Summerslam is guaranteed to be a major show but Stomping Grounds felt like a nothing event and with just over two weeks to go, the show build around being extreme has one gimmick match announced: a mixed tag. There is still time to boost things up, but if WWE needs more proof that what they’re focusing on is not working, I don’t know what it could be.

Are you surprised by the low attendances? Can WWE turn these numbers around permanently? Let us know in the comments below.
