They’re to thank/blame. Back in 2016, Matt Hardy became Broken Matt, ushering in the Broken Universe. The idea became one of the most discussed concepts in all of wrestling for the time, with Hardy’s antics being one of the highlights of the industry. This led to a series of cinematic based matches, mainly involving his brother Jeff. The idea has spread throughout wrestling and now we know some more about the next instance.
Starting back in April, Bray Wyatt began targeting Universal Champion Braun Strowman. The two had been members of the Wyatt Family and it became clear that they were on course for a showdown. Strowman defeated Wyatt at Money In The Bank, but the feud did not seem to be over. After a few weeks apart, Wyatt returned as the Eater of Worlds, prompting Strowman to challenge him to a Swamp Fight at Extreme Rules. The challenge was accepted and some details have emerged.
According to Wrestlinginc.com, the idea of the feud between Strowman and Wyatt is to see all three of Wyatts’ personas facing Strowman in a row. After Strowman defeated the Firefly Funhouse Wyatt at Money In The Bank, he is expected to face the Eater of Worlds at Extreme Rules, setting up a third match against the Fiend at Summerslam. The ending of the Swamp Fight will set up the Fiend match. Triple H, Jeremy Borash and Wyatt himself are helping set the match up.
There are a lot of Wyatts. Check out all three versions:
Opinion: I’m not sure how strong of a match this will be, but it is mainly serving as a means to an end, with that end being the title match at Summerslam. That might not be the best idea, but at least they have a plan in mind. Strowman and Wyatt do not have the deepest history in the world and now they are having a feud that runs the course of four months at minimum. It hasn’t been the most thrilling so far, and we have a long way to go.
