According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter by way of 411mania.com, McIntyre’s loss was intended to help him move up to the main roster rather soon. The talent level in NXT is seen to be strong enough to be fine with McIntyre moving up as names like Aleister Black, Killian Dane and Adam Cole are enough to keep things in a good place. However, McIntyre’s injury could keep him out for four to six months.
Here’s what could be his last appearance for a long time.

Drew McIntyre makes his awe-inspiring entrance: NXT TakeOver: WarGames (WWE Network Exclusive)
Opinion: This would make sense as there was always one major issue with McIntyre in NXT: he was too big. Literally I mean. McIntyre was physically so much bigger than most of the people that he faced that it was always an odd visual to see him in the ring. Look at him vs. Almas or Adam Cole or really almost anyone. He needs to move up to the main roster where he isn’t towering over everyone and making for such a strange visual.
