That’s bad. Injuries are one of the few universal constants in wrestling as they can take out anyone at anytime, either in or out of the ring. Unfortunately they can change all kinds of plans as someone can be needed to swap out of what a company has in mind. That is the case again as another WWE Superstar has been pulled from a tournament, marking the second time in one day.

This week’s Monday Night Raw featured the first round of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments. During the show, Dakota Kai announced that her stablemate Asuka was injured and therefore pulled from the tournament, with Kai replacing her. Kai went on to Lyra Valkyria in the first round. There is no word on the nature of Asuka’s injury or how long she will be out of action. She and Kairi Sane lost the Women’s Tag Team Titles to Jade Cargill/Bianca Belair over the weekend at Backlash. Drew McIntyre was pulled from the King of the Ring earlier in the day due to injury as well.

Opinion: That is terrible to hear and hopefully Asuka is back in the ring sooner than later. This is the kind of thing that can happen in wrestling and it’s a shame as Asuka vs. Valkyria sounded like a heck of a potential showdown. One of the few silver linings here is that Asuka is part of a stable so she had a perfectly logical replacement waiting in the wings to take her spot.
