Maybe next time. A title match is one of the easiest things to set up in all of wrestling. You have someone holding a title and have someone else challenge them for it. That can set up a few different matches in a hurry and you never know when you might see a title change. Building up the first title match is a tricky thing to do and now we are going to get an extra week to set things up.
NXT has a weird situation when it comes to the Cruiserweight Titles. Yes titles, as both NXT and NXT UK have one of their own. That has been the case for several months now, but the American version is in a bit more interesting position at the moment. There has been a #1 contender for over two months now, but the title match has not taken place yet. Now it has been postponed again.
This week on NXT, #1 contender Curt Stallion was attacked and said that it was at the hands of Legado del Fantasma, including Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar. As a result, the scheduled Cruiserweight Title match was postponed until the following week. This comes a day after the match was pulled from the official NXT preview. General Manager William Regal promised consequences should anything else happen to Stallion, who has been #1 contender since the November 13, 2020 edition of 205 Live.
Opinion: I’m not sure how good the match is going to be but after this much hype and build, it is going to have to be something special. Stallion is an interesting choice for the title, but I’m not sure if he is going to take it when Jordan Devlin and the NXT UK version of the title are both out there. Either way we could be in for a good one, and after this long, we almost have to be.
