Not Yet: WWE Reportedly Not Planning To Call Up Top NXT Star In This Year’s Draft

Not yet. We are coming up on the WWE Draft and that means there are going to be all kinds of changes taking place in the span of a few days. Wrestlers are going to move from one show to another and occasionally that can see a wrestler called up from NXT to start their time on the main roster. Several names have been rumored to come up but one prominent NXT name will not be going up.

According to Fightful Select, despite rumors of a potential call up, there are currently no plans for NXT’s Trick Williams to be drafted to the main roster. Williams is expected to be a featured part of NXT over the summer, including a possible feud with Dijak. WWE officials are said to be high on Williams, but believe that he could use more time in NXT, even potentially as the face of the show.

Opinion: This is the right move as Williams has not had the chance to really shine in NXT. He is on fire at the moment but he needs a chance to be seasoned and figure some more things out before he is brought up to the main roster. Williams is 29 years old and has more than enough time to build himself up so leaving him in NXT at the moment is the smart way to go, as he has more things to do down there.
