Better than a Tag Team Title? Wrestling and video games are things that would seem to go hand in hand. Fans like to run their own matches and play as characters that they enjoy, making the whole thing a rather logical connection. As it turns out, wrestlers are fans of gaming as well and it turns out that some of them are quite good at both. That was on display this week.
As announced on WWE.com, Jimmy Uso, the reigning UpUpDownDown Champion, was part of the winning team at the ESPN EXP Apex Legends eSports Celebrity Pro-Am. Other wrestling celebrities in the tournament includes Jey Uso, Xavier Woods and, according to 411mania.com, Kenny Omega. As a result of his win, a donation of $22,000 was made in Jimmy’s name to the Jimmy V Foundation for cancer research.
Jimmy knows what he is doing. Check out his UpUpDownDown Title match against R-Truth:
Opinion: There is nothing wrong with any of this as the whole thing was a fun event for the sake of charity. It might not have been the most serious thing in the world, but most charity events aren’t, which is perfectly fine. It’s cool to see wrestlers getting involved in something like this and they already have a foot in the door with Woods’ channel. That’s a cool deal and hopefully they do it again next year.
