The British are here! It’s been about five months since Tyler Bate won the WWE United Kingdom Championship and since then, things have slowed down a bit. The title has been defended a few times since then but nothing has really felt major. Now though, things seem like they’re about to pick up in a big way.

This weekend, WWE taped the first episodes of their UK TV show, which are set to air in the near future. During the tapings, Pete Dunne earned a United Kingdom Title shot against Bate, which will take place on May 20 at “Takeover: Chicago”. This is the first time a non-NXT Title has been defended at a Takeover.

Opinion: This isn’t exactly the biggest surprise in the world and that’s not the worst thing in the world. As soon as Dunne stared Bate down during the recent UK Title defense on “NXT”, this match was pretty obvious. There’s not much of a reason to have Bate keep the title at this point, so Dunne winning should be a foregone conclusion.

No adjustments needed for Pete Dunne heading into NXT TakeOver: Chicago: Exclusive, May 7, 2017
