You have to fill in the card somehow. With less than three weeks until “Summerslam 2017”, we only have title matches set. That’s the meat of the card but we need something else to fill in the gaps. We need some personal feuds that aren’t over titles to help build the card. One of those matches was set this week on “Smackdown Live”.
This week, Rusev was in a competitive match with Chad Gable. After defeating Gable with the Accolade, Rusev complained about a lack of competition and wanted a world class opponent for “Summerslam 2017”. Randy Orton came out for a staredown and left Rusev laying after an RKO. The match was made official for the pay per view later in the night.
Opinion: These two have never actually had a singles match so it’s an actually fresh match. Both guys could use a win so it would make sense for either of them to win. They’ve also both shown the ability to have good matches when given the chance so hopefully they can top their performances at “Battleground 2017”.
