New Impact Wrestling World Champion Crowned in Controversial Ending

It’s quite the way to start a new era. This week’s episode of “Impact Wrestling” was a big deal as a lot of things are changing in a hurry. One of those things is to add a handful of new talent to the tapings. You probably know a name on that list as he’s a former WWE World Champion and as a result, was thrown straight into the title picture.

This week on “Impact Wrestling”, Alberto El Patron (formerly Alberto Del Rio) debuted and challenged Lashley for the TNA World Title. In what might not have been the biggest surprise, El Patron won the title with the help of two ref bumps and a belt shot to the head. After the match, the referees conferred about what happened, making it look like there might be more to this story next week.

Opinion: I’m really not sure on this one. Something Impact Wrestling seems interested in doing is getting away from ex-WWE talent and the first main event of their new era is a pair of former WWE talents facing off with one of them winning the title in his debut. Is that really the best way to start a new era?
