Call it a chance? There are all kinds of people who help put WWE programming together but there is only one Vince McMahon. While McMahon might not be the owner of the company come the end of the year, he is still going to be in charge of WWE for the most part and that can lead to some interesting changes. Now we might be seeing such a thing again at a major event.

Randy Orton has been out of action since May 2022 with a back injury that required fusion surgery. There is currently no word on when he will be back in the ring, though Orton has recently begun training for such a return. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com asked about Orton’s Summerslam status and was told
“Who am I to say that Vince might not call in on pain meds screaming about how they need Randy to punt someone Saturday? I can’t say it’s impossible”.
This comes as McMahon is recovering from back surgery of his own. Summerslam takes place on Saturday August 5.

An actual quote from someone in WWE when I asked about Randy Orton's Summerslam status lol https://t.co/K4yEK5qGXb

Orton has done some things at Summerslam before. Check out his time at the event:
Opinion: While I can’t quite fathom Orton returning to the ring anytime soon, especially at Summerslam, there is something to be said about the idea of McMahon running so wild that you never know what you will see. That is where McMahon has shined (for better or worse) over the years and him bringing in someone like Orton despite him not being ready wouldn’t be completely insane. For now though, we’ll probably be waiting to see Orton and that is probably the best option.
What do you think of the idea? When will Orton return to WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
