Shine it up? The easiest plot device in any wrestling feud is a championship. It’s such an easy concept: one person has a championship and the other wants it so the two have a match to determine who is the best. You can go on with that idea for weeks or months and it always works because people want to be the best. Sometimes there can be too many titles though and that problem might be getting worse.
While the WWE Women’s Revolution has changed the game for women’s wrestling in the company, it is far from the first modern change to come along. NXT has been pushing its women’s division as a major player for years now and continues to do so to this day. Becoming NXT Women’s Champion is one of the fastest paths to stardom in NXT but things might be getting a bit more complicated.
During the conference call for NXT Takeover: Vengeance Day, WWE COO Triple H said there were conversations taking place about adding a new women’s title to NXT, though he does not like the idea of having too many titles. There is no word on what kind of a title it would be. NXT currently features the NXT Women’s Title and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, which are defended on all three brands.
Opinion: I’m not sure on this one, but I’d also completely expect for it to take place. WWE certainly loves to have a lot of titles on any given show, even it if might not make the most sense. As Triple H said, it can be a little much to have that many championships running around and with so many already taking up NXT’s two hours of television a week, this might not be the best idea.
