Card subject to change, even in NXT. Wrestling is like any other sport in that you never can tell when something can change at the drop of a hat. It can be the case out of absolutely nowhere, which is a shame when something has been built up rather well. No wrestler or promotion is immune to this problem and unfortunately it seems to have happened rather close to a major show.
We are less than five days away from NXT Takeover: Vengeance Day and the card is mostly set. While we still need to find out who will be in the Dusty Classic finals for both the men’s and women’s matches, there are several other matches already set, as tends to be the case for Takeover. However, things have changed though as one of those title matches will not be taking place.
He would know. Check out the unofficial announcement:
Austin Theory has posted a video to Twitter, announcing that NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano is out of Sunday’s Takeover: Vengeance Day. Theory said that Kushida, Gargano’s scheduled challenger, was to blame for Gargano being out of the match, though no reason was given. In addition, Theory has said that he will face Kushida this week on NXT TV. There is no word on why Gargano is out of action and WWE has yet to make an official announcement or named a replacement match of any kind.
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is going to happen at some point and it is a shame that it had to happen here. The most important thing is that Gargano is healthy and safe and given the current circumstances, there is almost no way to know what caused such an absence. Hopefully everything is ok though and we get to see the match at some point in the future because the build has worked well.
