That would have been unique. There are a lot of different wrestling promotions in the world and some of them do not get the kind of attention that they deserve. Just because a company is not on the level of WWE or AEW does not mean that they are not worth watching as some of them have some very unique histories. One of them almost lost their entire history in a pretty out there idea.

Over the last few years, there are very few wrestlers as different as Matt Hardy. His Broken/Woken characters have been some of the most unique and original ideas that wrestling has seen in a very long time. That might not be the best thing for some fans, but they were certainly noteworthy in a lot of ways. At the same time though, there was at least one major idea that Hardy did not get to use.

Impact Wrestling social media producer sent out a tweet saying that there was a plan for the Hardys to delete all of TNA Wrestling at the end of the Tag Team Apocalypto to complete rebrand the company. Hardy responded to the tweet, confirming that it was true. The event took place on December 15, 2006 and the company was officially rebranded on March 2, 2017. There is no word on why the planned change did not go through.

It was one of the most unique nights in wrestling history. Check out what almost ended TNA:

Opinion: This is an idea that I remember being batted around at the time of the show and really, it isn’t the worst idea. If the company was going to be changed anyway, why not go all the way with it and have some fun at the same time? I can understand the idea of it being a bit too far, but it would certainly have gotten a little more attention than just issuing a standard press release. Whether that difference would be a good thing or a bad thing is up for debate however.

What do you think of the idea? How would it have worked? Let us know in the comments below.
