The hype was worth it. After months of buildup, Total Nonstop Deletion aired last night. Among other questions (such as who would show up and what else might help fill in the card), one thing people were wondering was how many people would watch. It turns out that it was quite a few, at least by TNA standards. According to Show Buzz Daily, the show drew a .1 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 329,000 viewers, up 43% and 9% respectively over last week.

The show was centered around a huge tag team elimination match called Tag Team Apocalypto with the Hardys’ TNA Tag Team Titles on the line. A lot of the show was built around the idea who would show up as Matt Hardy had issued a series of challenges to various talents from outside the promotion.

I can’t say I’m surprised by the ratings being up as there was a lot of hype behind this show. However, this isn’t going to be the norm going forward and given how much the viewership was up, I’m not sure it was worth all the time and effort put into this show. I was entertained by it though and it gave them more viewers so it was certainly a success in the short term.
