I don’t think anyone was expecting this. The Mae Young Classic has been the talk of the internet as of late with a lot of wrestling fans being interested in where the tournament is going. Unlike last year’s Cruiserweight Classic, this tournament was released in two big batches of episodes and will culminate this coming Tuesday in a live finale. So how is this change in format working for WWE?
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter by way of Wrestlinginc.com, the tournament has been a smash hit on the Network, currently occupying the first eight spots on the most viewed shows list. The eight episodes were released in four episode blocks for the past two Mondays as we head into Tuesday’s live finale.
What did Kairi Sane have to say before the final?
An emotional Kairi Sane reflects on her journey in the Mae Young Classic: Exclusive, Sept. 7, 2017
Opinion: This isn’t the most surprising thing in the world. The tournament has felt like something important with a fresh cast of characters all fighting for a prize. It’s something that comes across as a combination of fun, important and entertaining while not being bogged down by a lot of the annoying WWE cliches. I’ve had a lot of fun with this so far and I hope it continues.
What are your thoughts on the tournament so far? Who do you have in the finals? Let us know in the comments below.
