Shine it up. Titles are one of the most important things in any wrestling promotion and it can make a big difference when one of them changes. This can mean either by changing hands or by changing the championship itself. Every so often, WWE will change the look or name of a championship, but in this case, they did both at once in quite the update for the champion.

This week’s Monday Night Raw opened with SmackDown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley being named the new Women’s World Champion. The title design is modeled on the World Heavyweight Championship, albeit with a white strap. This change comes after Asuka received a new Undisputed WWE Women’s Title, which features a similar white strap. There is no word on why WWE chose to make the changes.

Opinion: It makes all the sense in the world to move away from the brand designated championships, as it avoids having to do things like swap titles when one woman moves over to the other show. WWE making changes to its titles isn’t new, but it is interesting to see them make this many changes at once. If nothing else, I’m curious to see what other changes, if any, are made going forward.
