An unheralded legend. Theme music is one of the most important parts of a wrestler’s persona. Think back to names like Steve Austin or Undertaker. They have those big, amazing entrances with the perfect theme song to make it all work. It’s safe to say that having Undertaker come out to “Hit Me Baby One More Time” wouldn’t quite work. As of today though, it seems that one of the best producers of such music is gone from the company.
According to Prowrestlingsheet.com, longtime WWE composer Jim Johnston has been released from the company. While the reason for the release isn’t known, it isn’t considered to be a mutual agreement. Johnston began working for the company in 1985 but has primarily been composing film scores for WWE Studios since 2014 with CFO$ taking over most of his role.
If you’ve never seen Johnston at work, here’s a good example of what he can do.

Opinion: I’ve liked some of the themes that CFO$ have used in recent years but my goodness Johnston put out some of the most amazing themes ever. There’s a documentary about Johnston’s writing process that you can find on the WWE Network. It’s one of the most interesting things WWE has ever put together and well worth checking out.
What is your favorite Johnston theme? Do you prefer his work or CFO$? Let us know in the comments below.
