We’re still not there. Names are one of the most important things a wrestler can have. With the wrong name, a wrestler, or in this case a team, is not likely to go anywhere. If Hulk Hogan had been named Baldo McPherson, it is unlikely that he would reach the level of star power he achieved. A recently departed WWE team is trying to figure out their name situation and it might be more complicated than it seems.
There are very few teams who have tried to get out of WWE as hard as the Revolt. Formerly known as the Revival (now known as Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood), the team was not happy with what was going on in the company and WWE didn’t seem interested in promoting them either. The team is officially done with WWE, but moving on might not be as simple as just picking a name and moving on. Harwood and Wheeler trademarked “The Revolt” and “Fear The Revolt” earlier this year, and yet things might not be done yet.
According to PWInsider.com, an attorney representing Zane Riley and Caleb Konley, who wrestle on the independent scene as the Revolt, has sent the former Revival a cease and desist letter over using the name. The letter claims that the four wrestlers knew each other, despite Harwood claiming the contrary. Riley and Konley’s attorney says that since they have been using the name for years, they are the real owners of the name. Harwood and Wheeler’s attorney have said that the team will only be known as FTR and not the Revolt. There is no word on when Harwood and Wheeler will wrestle again or what the next step will be.

Opinion: I’m really hoping that this winds up blowing over as Zane and Riley have built up the name a lot more than Harwood and Wheeler. Granted, it’s not like The Revolt is all that great of a name in the first place. Hopefully this is something that gets better in a hurry because it isn’t something that needs to be turned into a major issue. FTR isn’t an awesome name either, but it would seem to be the best solution at the moment.
