Next woman up. Earlier this year, Asuka vacated the NXT Women’s Title after a year and a half as champion. She was never defeated, but wiped out the division on the way out. That meant it was time to crown a new champion, which would take place in a four way match at “Takeover: WarGames”.

Tonight, Ember Moon defeated Kairi Sane, Nikki Cross and Peyton Royce to become the new champion. Sane had won the Mae Young Classic to qualify for the match while the other three won individual qualifying matches. This makes Moon the sixth woman ever to hold the Women’s Title.

Here’s Moon’s warmup for tonight.

Ember Moon vs. Mercedes Martinez: WWE NXT, Nov. 15, 2017

Opinion: Moon winning makes sense as she was clearly the heir apparent to Asuka and got the closest to defeating her. She won the match with her big finishing move and looked like a star, though I’m not sure how much sense it makes to have her lose to Asuka multiple times and then become champion so soon thereafter.
