It could be phenomenal. One of the first major matches announced for “Survivor Series 2017” saw Smackdown World Champion Jinder Mahal challenge Universal Champion Brock Lesnar to a champion vs. champion match. Lesnar accepted the challenge without much issue, but the question became would Mahal hold the title until the pay per view?

As announced on WWE.com, AJ Styles defeated Mahal at the “Smackdown Live” tapings in Manchester to become the new Smackdown World Champion. Styles challenged Mahal three weeks ago and went on to defeat both Singh Brothers in very dominant fashion. This is Styles’ second reign with the title.

Here’s what Styles had to say before his title shot.

Is AJ Styles ready for his WWE Title Match?: Exclusive, Nov. 7, 2017

Opinion: Well ok then. That’s quite the shock and while there’s a good chance that Styles will drop the title back to Mahal before the tour of India, this sets up Lesnar vs. Styles for the title at “Survivor Series 2017” in what is nothing short of a dream match. If nothing else it lets us stop asking the question “when will Mahal finally lose the title”.

Will Styles hold the title into the pay per view? Will he defeat Lesnar? Let us know in the comments below.
