That certainly would be annoying. There aren’t many wrestlers who are more fascinating than Andre the Giant. The stories about him are legendary and there are very few who can come close to matching up to him. However, one of the other famous names in wrestling is Randy Savage, who was in a world of his own as well. It turns out that they didn’t get along and there’s a reason that’s the case.
Savage’s brother Lanny Poffo has spoken to the Tampa Bay Times for a new interview following the announced of an Andre the Giant documentary. Poffo shed some light on Andre the Giant’s relationship with Savage, as well on how he got on the Giant’s good side with a simple gift.
First up there was the story behind why Savage and the Giant just didn’t get along:
And how he got on Andre the Giant’s good side:
“Playing cards was his one of his favorite things to do in life. He took his big hand, put it behind my neck and gave me a kiss on both cheeks. From then on he called me ‘boss man.’ I was like the mouse that took the thorn out of his paw and we were friends for life.”
The article also includes comments from former Killer Bee B. Brian Blair.
I really could listen to stories about the Giant all day long. There’s something to be said about someone who looked like he did but even more importantly, he lived life like a giant. I can’t wait for the documentary to be released as a good filmmaker could turn Andre the Giant’s stories into one of the most fascinating stories put on film in a long time.
