It’s sad but true. Kurt Angle is only a few weeks away from being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017. In the meantime though, he had one major match left to get through on the independent circuit. That final match took place last night at a Northeast Wrestling event in Waterbury, Connecticut and we’ve got the results.

According to Wrestlinginc.com, Cody Rhodes defeated Angle in a steel cage match via pinfall at “WrestleFest XXI” to end their trilogy. The two shook hands before the match and Rhodes praised Angle for making him a better man, as well as saying there was a spot for him in the Bullet Club. Angle gave a speech to the crowd and thanked the fans for their support over the years.

Opinion: There’s something to be said about a legend putting the younger guy over on his way out. Angle has gone out of his way to talk about how much he wants to help make the new generation and this is exactly how he can go about doing it. Rhodes pinned Angle to end their feud and then got a bit of a rub from him in the post match speech. Well done and the match sounds like it’s worth seeing.
