Well, it worked for Andy Kaufman. A few years back, James Ellsworth became one of the biggest surprises in a very long time. The rather small and rather generic wrestler (save for that missing chin) took the company by storm and managed to develop something of a cult following. Now that he’s been released though, he needs something new and it seems that he’s found that.
In a new post on his Instagram, Ellsworth has named himself the World Intergender Wrestling Champion. He’ll be defending the title around the independent circuit against various female wrestlers, likely beginning immediately. This isn’t an original idea as comedian Andy Kaufman did the same thing, albeit not as a full time wrestler. Here’s the post:
Here’s one of Ellsworth’s finer moments:

Opinion: It’s a gimmick and that’s probably the best thing Ellsworth can do right now. He’s not exactly a top level talent but it’s likely going to get him a few more bookings. Just having him as a former WWE jobber isn’t going to keep him employed all that long. This could get him some traction and that’s better than nothing.
Is this a good idea? How long could Ellsworth make this work? Let us know in the comments below.
