It wasn’t easy. Roman Reigns has dominated the WWE scene for the last three plus years, with a Universal Title reign that has lasted over 1,100 days and counting. This has included him defeating a variety of former World Champions and wrestling legends, but now we know something new about one of those matches which might explain some of the issues with what took place.

Last year at Elimination Chamber 2022, Reigns successfully defended his title against Goldberg. During a recent interview with the Chicago Sports Podcast (beginning at around 36:28), Goldberg revealed that he had contracted Covid-19 three weeks before the match. However, Goldberg agreed to wrestle the match because WWE promised him another match. Goldberg has not wrestled since Elimination Chamber 2022.

Opinion: That does explain a bit of the match, as it did not last very long and there was only so much that could be done with the choices that they had. Goldberg is a star when he can do things the way that has worked for him over his career but the Reigns match did not play out that way. I could go for seeing him have one more match down the line, as he deserves a bit better exit.
