Here’s How WWE Might Be Planning To Get Out Of The Saudi Arabia Situation

So that’s their way out. There have been very few stories in either WWE or the world at the moment that are bigger than the situation involving Saudi Arabia and missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The situation has turned everything involving Crown Jewel upside down as there has been a lot of pressure on WWE to drop the show entirely. As it turns out, they might have something else in mind.

Thursday on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer suggested that WWE might take the attention off the Khashoggi situation by having a major moment at the show: Daniel Bryan defeating AJ Styles to become WWE Champion. The theory is that the title change, combined with Shawn Michaels making his return to the ring, will be enough to make fans forget about everything else going on at the moment.

Opinion: The amount of stuff that WWE is trying to do to get around their current situation makes me think that there’s WAY too much going on here to make it worth their while. I know WWE is going to make a ton of money for one night, but how much are they throwing away for the sake of the show? Styles has held the title for nearly a year. Are they really willing to just end that for the sake of trying to get attention off the situation they’re in? I’d certainly hope not.
