Well at least it’s something. Sunday night at Extreme Rules, Monday Night Raw General Manager Kurt Angle said that he was tired of Universal Champion Brock Lesnar never showing up to defend the title. That was going to be remedied on Monday night as Lesnar was either going to announce his next title defense or he was going to be stripped of the title. We got the answer, and it involved six different wrestlers.
Which six? Well check out our full Monday Night Raw results and find out.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Angle announced that Lesnar will defend his Universal Title at Summerslam next month. An opponent had to be determined though, so Angle made a pair of triple threat matches with the winners facing off next week. Roman Reigns won the first by defeating Finn Balor and Drew McIntyre, followed by Bobby Lashley winning the second by defeating Seth Rollins and Elias. Reigns and Lashley will meet next week with the winner getting the title shot.
Here’s how one of them got there.
Opinion: You really could have cut out the triple threat matches and just set up Reigns vs. Lashleya t the top of the show. It wasn’t exactly a secret that WWE was going in that direction and therefore the match results weren’t in much doubt. That being said, both matches were entertaining and I get the idea of having people need to win matches to qualify. At the same time though, what exactly did the Extreme Rules match mean if Reigns can lose there and be right back on equal footing with Lashley eight days later?
