Off the air can still be big. The Women’s Revolution has changed the way women’s wrestling is seen in America. What once was little more than a side attraction has become one of the most prominently featured attractions in the entire business. Women’s matches are now featured attractions and might be the main event of WrestleMania 35. You can think of Tuesday as a trial run.
According to 411mania.com, the dark match at the end of last night’s SmackDown Live and 205 Live tapings saw Asuka successfully defend the SmackDown Women’s Title against Charlotte. Asuka defeated Charlotte by submission with the Asuka Lock. This is the exact same finish as last week when Asuka defeated Charlotte in Phoenix, Arizona. Neither of them currently have a match scheduled for Elimination Chamber.
Since it’s the same ending, this is close enough. Check out last week’s Charlotte vs. Asuka match:
Opinion: This comes off like a dry run for a future match between the two, which would make a lot of sense. Unless Charlotte is added to the Raw Women’s Title match, it would be rather logical to have Charlotte challenge Asuka for the title at WrestleMania 35 in a rematch of last year. Asuka could be out to avenge her loss and they could even set up a third match down the line.
