You have to make it special. On March 31, 1985, the World Wrestling Federation presented the first annual WrestleMania. The event was quite the gamble for WWE but it wound up being one of the greatest things they ever could have done. No one could have known that in the future, but there had to be something done to make it historic. In that case it was a title change, and WWE still follows the same line of thinking.

On Saturday night, WWE presented the first ever battle between NXT and NXT UK under the name Worlds Collide. The name has been used for a series of shows before, but none of them were treated as anything more than some programming for the sake of filling in some time. This was the first one that mattered and it needed something to make it historic. That’s what was delivered.

Saturday night at Worlds Collide, Jordan Devlin defeated Angel Garza, Travis Banks and Isaiah Scott in a fatal four way match to become the new NXT Cruiserweight Champion. This is the first time that the title has been held by someone from NXT UK. The win comes only a few weeks after the title was renamed the NXT Cruiserweight Title after being known as the WWE Cruiserweight Title since its inception.

It was a heck of a match. Check out Devlin in action and how he got his new title plates:

Opinion: This was some of the best news that came out of the entire show. Devlin has been one of the most consistent performers in NXT UK since its debut and I’m glad to see him getting some of the recognition that he deserves. I have no idea how long he is going to hold the title for, but just winning it in the first place is enough to make him a bigger star than he was before.
