History has been made! There are all kinds of titles to be won in WWE and becoming a champion still means at least something no matter what happens. At the same time, there are instances where a champion has to be crowned without defeating the previous title holders. That was what we saw this week as a tournament final gave us some new champions.
This week’s Monday Night Raw was headlined by the finals of the Women’s Tag Team Title tournament, which saw Aliyah/Raquel Rodriguez defeating Dakota Kai/Iyo Sky to win the titles for the first time. This marks both of their first main roster titles in their careers. The titles were vacated when Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out on the company in May, vacating the titles in the process.
Opinion: It is nice to have the champions not being vacated anymore but the question now becomes will WWE treat them with more respect this time around. Aliyah and Rodriguez should work as new champions, but it isn’t going to matter if they are not going to be treated as anything important. WWE needs to build up a division, which is not something they have shown the ability to do in the past.
What do you think of the result? How will their reign go? Let us know in the comments below.
