Put me in coach. As you might have heard, Ring of Honor commentator Steve Corino recently had a short run as a guest trainer at the WWE Performance center. It now seems that the guest part might be taken away. According to a new report from Prowrestling.net, Corino will be finishing up with Ring of Honor in the near future and joining the Performance Center as a full time trainer. This is the second recent new hire for the Performance Center as Shawn Michaels recently joined the staff.
Corino has been around wrestling for a long time and has more titles on the indy scene than probably almost any wrestler in the time span. Debuting in 1994, Corino, 43 years old, is a two time World Champion, having held the ECW and NWA World Titles in 2001. He has been with Ring of Honor since 2009 as a part time wrestler and full time commentator.
There’s nothing wrong with bringing in fresh faces at the Performance Center. They have some of the better trainers in wrestling and the undisputed top level training facilities. Sometimes though you need some fresh blood and Corino is still young enough to have an impact on the company for a long time. If nothing else, maybe he could take over Corey Graves’ spot as NXT commentator if his main roster responsibilities become a bit too much.
