That’s quite the last minute announcement. This past Saturday night at “Takeover: Toronto”, Samoa Joe defeated Shinsuke Nakamura (with the help of a low blow) to regain the NXT Title. It was fairly obvious that there would be a rematch but the date has already been announced. At the end of tonight’s episode of “NXT”, it was announced that Nakamura would get his title shot at the upcoming NXT live event in Osaka, Japan. The match will air in two weeks on “NXT” on tape delay.

While it seems that a title change at a house show isn’t the most likely thing in the world, the NXT Title changed hands earlier this year at such an event. On April 21, 2016, Samoa Joe defeated Finn Balor at a house show in Lowell, Massachusetts to win his first NXT Title. On top of that, last year on July 4, 2015, Balor won the same title in Tokyo, Japan at a live special so there is certainly precedent for another title change in December.

This is one of the things I love about NXT: I have no idea who wins here. While all the signs would seem to point to Nakamura getting the title back, I can’t imagine an NXT Title reign lasting a few weeks. That’s what’s so fun about this promotion. As simple as they keep things, you never can quite tell what they’re going to do and that makes you want to watch.

Do you think they’ll switch the title back so soon? If not here, does Nakamura ever get the belt back? Let us know in the comments below.
