Television matters. Vince McMahon is one of if not the most important people in the history of professional wrestling. He modernized the sport and became a billionaire based on his promotional abilities. However, he doesn’t have the best luck outside of wrestling, with one failed venture after another. With the XFL 2 coming up though, McMahon got some very good news to boost his chances.
According to ESPN.com, the XFL’s games will be broadcast on both ESPN and FOX Sports, as well as ABC and FOX. The schedule will include back to back games on Saturday and two games on Sunday afternoons. The league will debut on February 8, 2020, making a return nineteen years after its first in carnation, which only lasted a single season before being canceled.
In case you need a refresher course. Check out WWE’s history of the XFL:
Opinion: I’ll believe this company’s success when I see after the colossal failure that was the Alliance of American Football earlier this year. Pulling off a football league is a hard thing to do and the XFL name isn’t exactly the strongest in the world. Hopefully things work well, but there is a lot more to this than just getting a TV deal and having money. The groundwork is there, but that’s no guarantee of success.
