It was a timing thing. The biggest wrestling story of the week was the surprise return of CM Punk at WWE’s Survivor Series last weekend. The return marked the end of a nearly ten year hiatus for Punk and led to all kinds of questions. Punk appeared this week on Monday Night Raw to address the fans, but it turns out things did not go as they had originally been planned.

According to PWInsider.com, Punk’s promo was planned to go longer but was cut for time due to Randy Orton vs. Dominik Mysterio going longer than planned. This is said to be a problem that takes place somewhat regularly on WWE TV and had nothing to do with Punk or what he was going to say. Punk was also said to be very friendly to everyone backstage and spoke to several people. Finally despite mentioning her, there are currently no plans for Punk’s wife, former WWE Superstar AJ Lee, to make an on-screen appearance.
It’s been a busy few days. Check out how Punk’s time back in WWE has gone, plus some reaction to it:
Opinion: The term “so far, so good” seems to come to mind here, but so far Punk has only been back for two nights. While those two nights have gone well, Punk is the definition of a time bomb in a lot of ways, or at least that is how he seems a lot of the time. He does not have the best track record behind the scenes but if he can keep it together here, maybe everything can work for a change.
